Thyagaraja Aradhana (14th Feb 2009)

The Thyagaraja Aradhana festival is held once a year, when most of the leading exponents of South Indian Classical music come to perform under one roof. The festival takes place at Thiruvaiyyaru, the birth place of the Saint Thyagaraja, who is considered to be the greatest and most significant composers of classical music, world over. This was an successful event with a large turnout.

Republic Day (26th Jan 2009)

This was celebrated at Cranwell center on chilling weather of 26th Jan 2009. The first event after the school has opened after the winter break and spring arrivals.

International Street Fair (4th April Saturday in Downtown Blacksburg)

International Street Fair (4th April Saturday in Downtown Blacksburg): ISA collaborates with other indian associations at VT to participate in the International street fair under the banner of “Khazaana- treasures of India”.

Independence Day (15th August 2009)

ISA celebrated independence day at VT with new students coming on this Fall 09. The event was a successful event to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of our independence.

Fresher’s Party (5th September 2009)

It was difficult coming to a new place and it was soothing when someone here extended a helping hand. And infact this is the core motto for the Indian Student’s Association @ Virginia Tech. To greet all the new students we celebrated the Freshet’s party like never before. Break zone was booked for two hours with bowling, pool games, table tennis and what not! After that it also had good food and bollywood dance numbers. One more thing to notice, the fresher’s was scheduled on when we celebrate Teacher’s Day in India!

Ras Garba (27th September 2009)

When you are in a foreign country, celebrating indian festivities are really important.  Ras-Graba was just an small and successful attempt at it. ISA celebrated the Navaratri, one of the biggest festivals of India at Common Wealth Ballroom with Dandiya, music and good food! What else you want?

Diwali (31st October 2009)

It was celebrated at Buruss Hall, the last even from the ISA team 2008-2009.
